15th Annual Independence Classic

Teams are still being accepted for the 15th annual Independence Classic, June 21-23, and 19th annual Fast Pitch Classic, July 19-21. The registration fee for these tournaments is $450. Each tournament guarantees a minimum of 5 games. Pool play format and the number of advancing teams will be determined by the number of teams in each division.
Credit cards are accepted for entry fee payment. Use the entry form to pay by credit card or call 419-360-0702 to make arrangements.

Games will once again be played at Rolf Park in Maumee and the CYO Athletic Complex in southwest Toledo. Each complex features 8 quality playing fields, concession stands, restrooms and plenty of free parking.
PreSeason Classic champions were crowned June 3 in five divisions. The 2012 champs were: 10u – SGS Magic Red, 12u- SGS Magic Red, 14u – Heart of Ohio Nitro, 16u – Wizards (Morningstar), 18u – Brampton Blazers.

Champions were crowned in five divisions as the 18th annual Fast Pitch Classic concluded on July 22. Great weather and spirited competition highlighted the weekend as 82 teams competed for championship titles.
The pools and schedule have been released for the 17th annual PreSeason Classic, June 1-3, 2012 at Rolf Park in Maumee.
Two dollars from every tournament shirt sold this summer will be donated to benefit the Chris Drouillard Cancer Fund. For the past several years the tournament shirts have been designed Jenny Drouillard, Chris’ wife. The shirts feature Chris’s initials and the “Dream Team” logo that recognizes his spirit and the support of hundreds of his friends and relatives. Chris passed away from cancer on July 7. Make sure you check out the shirts at the tournament headquarters tables.
The Fastpitch Classic Softball Tournaments, in cooperation with Premier Girls Fastpitch (PGF), is offering berths to the PGF Midwest Regional Championships, July 23-28 in suburban Chicago. The top four finishers in each age division (10u – 18u), in each of the three 2013 tournaments, will earn automatic bids to the championships.
The championship tournament website is www.midwestpgf.com. More details about PGF can be found at the national website www.premiergirlsfastpitch.com . The PGF’s affiliation with the three Fast Pitch Classic events is an effort to expose more teams to PGF, particularly in the younger age divisions.
PGF provides a national platform on which fast pitch softball players can demonstrate their individual and team-enhancing skills, competing against top players and teams. PGF events showcase players’ skills at the highest levels of competition so players and college scouts can obtain the most viable evaluation of their talents.
